presidents revisited

i was thinking about the lincoln perfume that we had found a while back, and got interested in some other presidential themed items. one of these isn't quite presidential, but i thought it was funny anyway.

finger toes

most of my adult life i've had an extreme dislike for feet, specifically toes. i won't get into the specifics of why, but i tend to cringe when women wear sandals and i can see their toes... especially if they are sporting a french manicure on their toenails. i don't find it as bad if the toes are contained in the sandal, and most of the toes are covered... but sometimes, they just stick out really really far and i think it's unecessary.
my boyfriend is pretty tall compared to most people and therefore has pretty large feet and..... long toes to go with them. we call them finger toes for fun.
so, the point of this whole thing is i found this sweet illustration and it reminded me of the dreaded finger toes. i think they're pretty cute on this elephant.

my math
i remember when i first started to really enjoy numbers, it was in high school when i took pre-calculus. before then math always seemed boring and tedious, but for some reason, everything came together that year and it clicked in my mind. i decided to major in mathematics in college, partly because i wasn't sure what else to do and i had been doing fairly well in high school with it.
today, i still work a lot with numbers even though most of my college years had nothing to do with numbers and was filled with hours of trying to work out proofs and two question tests with those same proofs on them. i love finding math related things and hearing good math related jokes.
i overheard this one from the tv show king of the hill and just had to share:
boy: so, you must be really good at math!
girl: yeah, i'm in trig... what about you?
boy: my math is just called math

Strange Finds

This weekend my girlfriend and I found one of the strangest cologne bottles I've ever seen. We were at a local antique mall, and while I was purchasing a vintage necklace at the register, she found an odd bottle of cologne with Abraham Lincoln on the front.
It looked very distinguished, and since fate brought her to this amazing piece, she knew she had to purchase it. On the ride to the next place, we started naming which presidents we thought were the most sexy and drafting ideas for starting a presidential line of cologne.
I did some interneting (my new favorite made up word) and found some bottles on ebay and etsy... and there's even one of George Washington! Apparently Avon made these in 1970. I can't say it smelled very good. I think President Lincoln deserved a much sexier scent.... just look at that bone structure!
